Public Health Communications Collaborative – Launching Today

Header 2

Dear Colleague: The COVID-19 pandemic has powerfully demonstrated the importance of a strong public health system and the dedication of its workforce. Unfortunately, misinformation and conflicting messages about the virus have confused Americans and eroded trust in public health organizations.

The Public Health Communications Collaborative (PHCC) – launching today – was created by the CDC Foundation, the de Beaumont Foundation, and Trust for America’s Health to coordinate and amplify public health messaging on COVID-19 issues to increase Americans’ confidence in health guidance by communicating the best available science and by quickly correcting misinformation.

The collaborative will promote the value of public health to protect health, safety, and the economy. It will highlight the work of the CDC and public health agencies nationwide, position public health officials as credible experts, advocate for science-based decision-making, and build support for sustained investment in public health.

In order to achieve these goals, the collaborative will:
·     Provide state and local public health officials with messaging support, materials, and communications counsel
·     Communicate public health successes and offer spokespersons to news media
·     Inform policymakers and opinion leaders through earned media coverage, opinion placements, and other communications tactics

You can access resources and learn more about this effort on the new PHCC website. The site includes a tough questions Q&A, messaging about issues like school re-openings and masks use, and other resources. This website will be a real-time information hub, updated as COVID-19 issues evolve.

To sign up for email updates from PHCC, visit the website.

Please let us know if you have suggestions about how the collaborative can assist you.
